Flyers Track Club Shine at USATF National Junior Olympic Championships

Flyers Track Club made a strong impression on the national stage at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships, held at Savannah State University from July 21-27. Young athletes gathered from across the country to compete at the highest level of youth track and field, and the Flyers rose to the challenge with a string of impressive performances and personal bests.
Leading the charge in the 7–8 age group, James Bedara delivered a standout performance in both the 800m and 1500m runs, shaving an impressive 6 seconds off his previous best in the 1500m — a testament to his hard work and steady improvement.
In the 9–10 age group, Greyson Dunleavy and Grayson Van Dyk competed in the 1500m run, proudly representing the Flyers in a competitive field. Also in the same division, Ellie Davis showcased her skills in the long jump, bringing explosive energy and poise to the pit.
Distance events were a highlight for the 11–12 girls, with Katalyna Aguilar taking on the grueling 3000m run, demonstrating both grit and determination. Sandra Jakubiuk had a phenomenal meet, notching a personal best in the 1500m run and an astonishing 30-second improvement in the 3000m, where she also crushed her previous club record — a huge milestone in her growing career.
Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, and families for a successful week in Savannah!
The Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club is led by USATF-certified coaches and serves hundreds of athletes ages 7-15 year-round. Athletes learn the fundamentals of distance running and techniques unique to off-track running, with more experienced runners building on fundamental skills through conditioning and in-depth training.
