School Age Complement
School Age Complement is a fun, active and nurturing learning environment for elementary school students before and after school. For parents, we provide a structured program with the convenience, safety, and supervision to give you peace-of-mind in the before and after school hours. Research shows children who participate in after school programs are healthier, more successful in school and more likely to engage in positive behaviors. When kids attend after school programs at the Y, they improve their study and reading skills, develop character and build healthy eating and physical activity habits.
Our day includes free choice, homework time, small group & individual activities, project time, large group, indoor/outdoor activity and a healthy snack in the learning areas of arts & humanities, character development, health, wellness & fitness, homework assistance, literacy, science & technology, service learning and social competence & conflict resolution.
Before and After School Care
Before Care and After Care give working parents the extra coverage they need before and after school. Extended care at the Main Y and Garwood Family Center allows for a 6:30PM pick up to children enrolled in School Age Complement.
We provide an after school experience for Garwood students in Grades K-5. Activities include sports, recreation, arts & crafts, homework time and more. A healthy snack is provided and the Healthy U program is incorporated into the curriculum.
The program is available 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week beginning right after school until 6:00pm. Extended care is available from 6:00-6:30pm. Before school care is available beginning at 6:00am until the start of the school day. The Garwood Family Center YMCA features several classrooms, a multipurpose room, a large outdoor field and two playgrounds for children to enjoy

Vacation Fun Club
Vacation Fun Club days are available when children have a full day off of school. These days run from 7:00am to 6:00pm for an additional fee.
During Vacation Days, children should dress in play clothes (we may do messy art projects!) and should bring: bathing suit and towel, lunch and drink (no glass, peanuts, sesame seeds or tree nuts), and wear sneakers (we play in the gym and outside).
Special events are planned during the times that school is closed for a full week.
Sign up sheets will be posted at your child’s SACC program prior to the vacation day. You must sign up by the posted deadline in order for your child to attend. No child will be accepted if they are not signed up in advance. It is the parent’s responsibility to sign-up for these days, even if it is your child’s regular day.
Half Day programs are available when the schools are dismissed at 12:30pm for an additional fee. These days will run as follows:
- Before Care: Normal Schedule
- AM Kindergarten Wrap Around: Drop off at Y to be bussed to school
- PM Kindergarten Wrap Around: Bus will pick up and bring back to Y
- Main Y KEY: Bus will pick at 12:30pm and bring back to the Y

We will run a program from 10:00am until 6:00pm at the Main Y when school is cancelled. Registration for the snow day program takes place in October and is limited to 60 children. You must pre-register to attend this program. There is a deposit due at the time of registration. This fee is applicable to one used snow day. Each snow day there after, an additional fee is to be paid the morning of the snow day. Failure to call your child absent on any given snow day will result in the total fee. If a state of emergency is declared there will be NO snow day program.
Before Care is CANCELLED, AM Kindergarten Wrap Around begins at 10:00am and all other programs run as scheduled.
All off-site KEY, Main Y KEY and Kindergarten Wrap Around programs are cancelled. You will be responsible for picking your child up from his/her school.
