Welcome to Camp
Hello Everyone! My name is Lena Fagan-Nelson. I am the new Leaders in Training Camp Director for the summer of 2019! This year will be my 5th year working with the Westfield YMCA summer camp and I am I super excited about it. Working with children has always been a passion of mine and I look forward to help shape strong leaders of our future while giving them a fun summer to remember.
Welcome to Leaders in Training camp! Leaders in Training Camp is for campers entering grades 6-8 where our staff will be providing an engaging, learning and fun atmosphere for each camper. We will be working on effective problem solving, proper communication with ourselves and others, self-awareness, self-growth and how to be positive effective leaders to our society.
Our camp combines elements through work and play to bring out the leader within each camper. Topics discussed throughout camp will include effective communication, active listening, trust & self-esteem, stress management, personal responsibility & accountability, respect, and teamwork. Each day will include leadership/character building activities, swimming & fitness, cooperative games, and reflection on the days’ activities. The ultimate goal is to prepare campers to be Counselors in Training and future community leaders.
