Greta's Run 5K
Run ~ Walk ~ Roll
A letter from the Founders:
We are awed by the enthusiastic support! We are so excited to see how Greta’s Run is growing and giving back to our community!
This year, participants from fourteen states and Ecuador traveled to Westfield, making Greta’s Run truly a global event! Aaron Holibaugh from Egg Harbor Township triumphed from a second place finish last year, and took home the Gold. The Lady Blue Devils Soccer Team initiated the ‘Goals for Greta’ fundraising campaign, bringing the crowd to cheers as they arrived last Sunday.
I think we can all agree, when 1,008 participants of all abilities, 200+ volunteers, press, spectators, and The Newark Tabernacle Choir show up, something amazing is happening. Nothing erases Greta’s death, but Greta’s Run is giving light to the dark moments. Everyone who participates, volunteers, donates, sponsors, cheers along the course, and champions the cause recognizes, light only adds to light.
As you know, all proceeds from Greta’s Run are used to develop and implement programming for young adults with special needs. This age group, including Greta’s sister Elise, ages out of most organizational programming. The mission of Greta’s Run is to fix this in Westfield at the Westfield Area Y.
Due to the inaugural success, and because of your support, the Sampler Program has become “The Dragonfly Program”! Thanks to you, these young adults will have the opportunity to take Swim Yoga, and Boxing classes. Elise has already signed up!
To every one of you who participated, donated, sponsored & volunteered, thank you for helping us honor Greta in a way that gives back. We look forward to seeing you next year. Look for the Dragonflies!
