Dear Westfield Area YMCA Members and Friends,
These are extraordinarily challenging times. Like all of you, we are continuing to monitor the spread of COVID-19. With every difficult decision we make, we are following the best and latest guidance from the CDC and our local government officials. While the current situation has necessitated that our facilities remain closed, we are working hard to ensure our Y continues to focus on its mission while protecting the safety of our community.
We are asking you to please stay with us during this time. The community is not just our members, but our staff, our neighbors and our fellow nonprofits and businesses. The financial impact of our doors being shut with no revenue has already been devastating. The Y has over $300,000 of monthly expenses that won’t go away. This is just like your household budget, i.e. mortgages, insurance, maintenance and utilities to name a few.
We believe the right thing to do is to place all memberships on hold for the time that we are closed. In addition, we have posted all program credits to individual YMCA accounts. However, if you are able, we would be grateful if you wold help offset the Y’s monthly fixed facility expenses by donating to the YMCA Operations Recovery Fund. You can donate your membership or program fee credits here. Or you can make a donation in any denomination here. We thank everyone who has already contributed to our cause.
While social distancing may have temporarily changed the ways we interact with you, we offer the following: Make sure to exercise! A variety of fitness and wellness activities are available here. Check out our Facebook page for some smiles. And if you’re feeling anxious, the resources at Here2Help are available.
We can’t wait to reopen and serve the community again. We wish you and your family health and peace.
