Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do has spread internationally to become one of the world's most successful and popular martial arts. According to the American Taekwondo Association, Taekwondo is defined as a non-agressive and ethical system of self-defense.
When a student enters a Tae Kwon Do classroom, the focus of his or her training is not only on physical strength and growth, but also on important skills that will help lead to personal successes in life.
The word Tae Kwon Do itself is made up of three Chinese/Korean words: Tae, meaning to kick or jump; Kwon, meaning fist or hand; and Do, which means "the way."
Training involves a variety of techniques including punching, kicking, dodging, jumping, parrying and blocking. Tae Kwon Do also focuses on sparring and learning formal patterns of movement called forms.
Online registration is available for Youth & Teen classes and Adult classes.
Benefits of Tae Kwon Do Training
A psychological study found that children in martial arts have an increased sense of responsibility and a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks. They also have a high sense of self-esteem. This is why millions of parents are using martial arts to supplement their children's education. Our program teaches children important life skills like: discipline, self esteem, self confidence, personal development, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We enforce good rules and behavior in class and we expect the same good behavior at home and in school.Tae Kwon Do programs are not just for children. Adults and Teens can benefit in the following ways:
Fitness: As you progress in Taekwondo you will learn to coordinate this speed and power, and develop the concentration to focus all of your body's strength into a small, hard striking surface like the edge of the hand or the heel of the foot.
Self-Defense: Knowing you can defend yourself, your confidence will grow.
Self-Confidence: Through Tae Kwon Do, as you accomplish new goals, your confidence level increases. Taekwondo instills a sense of discipline and self-confidence that can carry over to all aspects of your life.
