Lifeguard

Y of the USA’s research-based lifeguard training program provides a comprehensive, education-centered approach to preventing accidents in aquatic environments. It focuses on the practical aspects of what lifeguards need to know and on lifeguard and patron safety. Lifeguard training enables students to learn and apply safety principles in their own lives, develop leadership skills, learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and improve their decision-making skills.

Besides being advanced-level swimmers, candidates for Y Lifeguard should be caring, strong, quick to respond, confident, fit and intelligent, with good interpersonal skills. Ys strive to include all people in their programs, but the hazardous duties of a lifeguard may disqualify some candidates with certain physical or mental conditions from becoming certified.

Certification includes: Y Lifeguard Course, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen Administration/First Aid.
