Parent/Child Classes
Book/Craft & Play
Ages 2-6
We will read one book and then make a project related to the book.  After completing the projects, we will play in the gym.  Great fun for all.    

Music Time
Newborn-5 years
Moms and babies will love this new class designed to introduce small children to music.  Come dance, sing and play instruments.  Time is available for moms to connect with each other.

My Newborn and Me
Especially for brand new moms
Bring your newborn (up to 10 months old at the start of the session) and join other new moms to socialize, trade ideas and simply get out of the house with your baby!  Refreshments will be served and several guest speakers/instructors will join us throughout the 8-week session.  

Playtime Adventures
9 months-5 years

Preschoolers along with their parent or caretaker participate in group activities that help develop dexterity, flexibility and gross motor skills.  A fun array of equipment is used during indoor gym. This class provides a great opportunity for parents to connect with each other.

Messy Art
2-6 years

In this class participants enjoy expressing their creativity by using paint, glue, water, shaving cream and other fun stuff.  Make a mess at the Y instead of your home.  We spend 1/2 hour creating an the last 15 minutes connecting and socializing.  Bring an old shirt.  Moms can join in or watch.

Yoga Buddies
4-7 years old
Parents and children will enjoy the peace and strength of yoga postures together.  Children should be able to follow directions.







FITNESS EXPRESS CENTER
for families with children as young as 7 (size restricitons apply). 
Check out our new Fitness Express Center on the 2nd floor of the Main Facility on Clark Street.  The Center features 16 pieces of strength and cardiovascular equipment for adults and families.  This room gives members of all ages the opportunity for an effective and efficient workout in 30 minutes.

Parent/Child Fencing
Ages 7-13

Parents and children come and learn the art of fencing from a professional fencing instructor.  Commonly referred to as "physical chess" and also known as a martial art, fencing improves your hand eye coordination, overall physical fitness and flexibility all while having fun!  Enjoy this sport together!

Parent/Child Soccer
Ages 2-7 years

We want to play too!  Come join in the fun!  We will all stretch and run together.  Then we will divide into two groups -- ages 2-4 with parent and ages 4-6 without parent.  Each group will play and run drills according to age.  Parents will act as partners in drills.  This is a great class for parents with multiple kids.  Two skilled instructors will direct play.

YMCA ADVENTURE GUIDES
FRIENDS FOREVER!
Dads . . . looking for a way to spend time with your K-3rd grade son or daughter?  Why not join Adventure Guides?  Small groups of fathers & children called Circle Communities meet once a month to create arts & crafts, participate in nature activities, learn about history and more.  Y Adventure Guides build lasting relationships and create enduring memories.  For more information e-mail Janice at jcarthens@westfieldynj.org.

REAL GIRLS
Grades K-8
Real Girls are not just sugar and spice and everything nice!Real Girls are strong, smart, funny, brave, athletic and creative!  Designed to foster relationships and build self-esteem, the program meets weekly and includes activities such as rock climbing, arts & crafts, sports, games, performing arts, field trips and more.  Please e-mail Meghan Walsh at mwalsh@westfieldynj.org for more information.
