Before School at the Main Y: 7:00 - 8:40am

Wrap Around at the Main Y:  8:45am - 12:25pm or 11:45am-3:20pm

After School at the Main Y or Lincoln: 3:20 - 6:00pm

Extended Care at Main Y: 6:00 - 6:30pm

 

Kindergarten Wrap Around
This program is designed to provide stimulating and enriching programs for half-day kindergarten students in the public schools.  Our curriculum enhances recreational and social skills through arts & crafts, learning centers, music, games, physical education, special events, use of the outdoor play area, field trips and more.  Instructional swim lessons are included once a week.  Children are transported to or from the Westfield Public Schools.  Our programs are theme based. Parents receive a monthly newsletter from the teachers outlining the program’s highlights.  Lead Teachers are certified and a 1:10 child–to-teacher ratio is maintained at all times.

LUNCH
Both AM and PM Kindergarten Wrap Around should bring a nutritious non–perishable lunch every day including half days.  Lunches can not be refrigerated or heated.  Please try to make lunches as healthy as possible.  When packing lunches please remember that we are a peanut and tree nut free environment (this includes sesame seeds).  Candy, gum, soda and other highly sugared foods are not recommended and should not be included.  NO GLASS CONTAINERS!  Please label your child’s lunch/lunch box.

In case of severe allergies, certain food items may be restricted from the classroom. If this should apply to your child’s classroom you will be notified by the Coordinator.

SWIMMING
Swimming is included once a week. The swim program will either be a 30 minute instructional lesson or a free swim in the Rooke Pool. Swimming is an important part of our program and participation is required.  If your child does not swim, no other activity will be offered.

LOGISTICS
If your child is in AM Kindergarten at Lincoln:

Westfield Area Y School Age staff arrive at Lincoln School at 11:35am to pick up children from the morning session.  School lets out at 11:45am.  Children are transported back to the Main Y building where they enjoy a fun filled day of Kindergarten readiness activities.  Children start by eating their peanut free lunch which is provided by the parent(s).  After lunch, children participate in circle time, art & science activities, work stations where concepts are explored (including journal writing) and recreational time in the gym and the outdoors (weather permitting).  Each class also receives a swim lesson one day per week.  If your child needs our after school program they would stay at the Main Y site.  A daily snack is provided.  The program is 3:20-6:00pm.  An extended day program until 6:30pm is available (at an additional cost).

If your child is in PM Kindergarten at Lincoln:

Our AM program offers a valet drop off at the Ferris Place entrance to the Main Y building.  A staff member waits at the door to receive the children as they arrive between 8:40-9:00am.  If parents need an earlier drop off, our Before Care program is available from the hours of 7:00-9:00am for an additional fee.

Children begin their day with circle time and then participate in work stations where concepts are explored (including journal writing), art & science activities and recreational time in the gym and the outdoors (weather permitting).  Each class also has a swim lesson one day per week.  Before children get ready for school, they enjoy their peanut free lunch, which is provided by the parent(s).  Children board the school bus at 12:25pm and are accompanied by Westfield Area Y school age staff to Lincoln School.  When children arrive at Lincoln they are walked directly to their class line.  Children needing an after school program from the hours of 3:20-6:00pm stay right at Lincoln School.  We have a program on the second floor.  School age staff meet children in the gym after school ends and walk them to the after school program.

• If you are enrolled in more than one program you receive a 5% discount on your tuition

• If your child will be absent on a given day it is a parent’s responsibility to call our voice mail so they can be cancelled from the bus.  908-233-2700 x248.  Don’t be worried about the bus: The children absolutely love it!!  Our staff are always on the bus coming to and from Lincoln School and all seats have seat belts.
