Aquatics
The Westfield Area Y offers a wide variety of water fitness classes as well as swim lessons and both the Devilfish and Aqua Ducks competitive teams.

Scuba
Learn to scuba dive and enjoy the underwater world with the internationally affiliated YMCA scuba program.  Class includes 6 academic and pool sessions.  For more information, contact Treasure Cove Watersports at 908-654-8808.

Devilfish Swim Team
6 to 18 years old
The Devilfish Swim Team is a competitive team for children and teens ages 6 to 18.  The team competes against other YMCAs in the area in both dual and invitational meets.  Swimmers who meet qualifying standards have the option of participating in regional and national meets. Swim Team Pre Team
This program is designed for those who would like to keep in shape and improve their strokes.  It's a perfect program for those who would like to experience competitive swimming without the commitment of a team.  Practices can easily fit into a busy schedule.  Choose 1-4 times per week.  Must be a minimum Flying Fish level.
 

Individualized Swim Lessons
Ages 6 - Adult
One-on-one individualized lessons are offered to those with special needs or those wanting to master a particular swimming skill.  To schedule, call Rob at x276. 

Angelfish Program
This is a pre-competitive program for children ages 6-8. Stroke development with starts are emphasized.  Participants must have completed the Y Starfish level.

AQUADUCKS
Synchronized Swim Team

Be part of a unique sport and join the nationally ranked Aqua Ducks Synchronized Swim Team.  Endurance, stamina and grace are combined in this exciting, fun and beautiful sport.  Call Diane Hunsinger at x324 for more information or click on "Aquaducks" on the left-hand side of this Website.  

Adult Water Exercise
Offered in both the shallow and deep end of the Wallace Pool, this terrific cardio and strength-training workout uses hand buoys, balls, flotation belts and water noodles.  We offer Water Exercise, Deep Water Exercise and Active Older Adults Water Exercise.

Arthritis Aquatic Exercise Program
This Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program is a recreational program that includes exercises to increase flexibility and range-of-motion.  To register, call

Individualized Swim Lessons
These swim lessons are available for individuals with disabilities or for swimmers who need help reaching a specific goal.  To schedule, contact Rob, 908-233-2700 x276.

Lifeguarding Class
Completion of this course will certify participants in YMCA Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Oxygen Administration and First Aid.  Participants must attend every class unless currently certified in any of the above mentioned areas.  Students must also successfully complete the written and water exam. 

Prerequisites -- you must:
*Be a minimum of 16 years old on the day the course begins
*Have the endurance level to swim 500 yards
*Have the skill level to perform the following strokes:  front crawl, elementary back stroke, breaststroke and sidestroke
*Be able to surface dive to the depth of 12 feet
