Meet Jennifer Grasso
This IS MY Y: Jennifer Grasso
“You must always find time for yourself and you can get yourself healthy. If you cannot figure out how to do it or even how to start, come to the Westfield Area Y and ask for help. It can change your life in so many wonderful ways. It changed mine!”
I was always an active and skinny kid, but my weight and fitness level fluctuated as I got busier with college, graduate school and then a career with travel and long hours. Eating right and exercise became a low priority.
A friend of mine, who happened to be a Group Fitness Instructor at the Westfield Area Y, offered me a one-week guest pass. I was impressed by the excellent instructors and class content as well as the variety and quantity of classes. I decided to join the Y. I attended 5-6 classes a week and lost 3-4 clothing sizes. The intermittent back pain I previously experienced was no longer an issue.
And there was more. People began to expect me at class, and seemed to miss me when I was not there. I built relationships and friendships with instructors and fellow members. I felt a connection with the Y. I wouldn’t have achieved all that I have without the Y. Now I am not only a very active member, but I teach a step class at the Y.
